Some dwarves say it is probably just a myth, but others claim they have found hints that it could be real. Deep within ancient caves lies a massive petrified, snake like rock formation, as if a giant creature was turned to stone long ago. It is surrounded by even stranger statues that seem older than everything else around them, hinting at something ancient and forgotten.
Finding the Serpent
The Ancient Serpent is a powerful endboss and one of the hardest encounters in this Add-On. It is extremely difficult to find and requires strong late game equipment to even stand a chance.
To locate the boss, all runes hidden across different biomes must first be collected. Each rune is found inside a Shrine, tied to a specific biome.
After collecting all Relics, an ancient altar known as the Ancient Serpent Altar can be found somewhere within the Ancient Grove biome. There are no tricks or guiding items to help locate it, only persistence and exploration will lead you there.
Once the altar is found, the ritual to summon the Ancient Serpent can begin.
Each of the five statues must be activated using its matching rune.
When a rune is placed correctly, the statue will begin to glow.
After all statues are activated, the boss becomes ready to be summoned.
Boss Fight & Stages
The fight against the Ancient Serpent is challenging, as its behavior and attacks evolve over time. Each stage introduces new mechanics and requires quick adaptation from the player.
The boss changes behavior with every stage.
It becomes smaller, faster, and harder to hit as the fight progresses.
Its attacks grow stronger and more aggressive over time.
If you manage to defeat it, the serpent will reveal its ancient secret: the Rune Breaker.
Runebreaker
To fully complete the encounter, all five gemstones must be brought to the fight. These are required to unlock the final reward.
After the fight, the Runebreaker can be unlocked by interacting with all of the gemstones. This step is required to claim the full reward of the encounter.
The Runebreaker is a powerful multi-purpose mining tool designed for multiple use cases.
